Egg Fiasco

Biography

  • Egg Fiasco is a Filipinos contemporary artist who was born in 1986. As a kid, he was always amazed by illustrations, charts and drawing in newspapers and books. Egg studied fine arts in a University in Manila, but in 2006 he got enamored more in the risky frenzy of wall tagging and graffiti. He admitted in an interview, that back in the days most of his work were illegal, so he felt the need to come up with a code/street name to hide his true identities.

While “Fiasco” was taken from the movie Elizabethtown, as it intrigued him when he was in the process of thinking of a new name. Though the meaning of the word in the movie was negative, he still decided to use it and attach it to “Egg”, a name that he felt had a positive vibe and is a good fit to his lettering style.

  • Few years after, he started experimenting with several styles and techniques. His works are convergence of several influences, not only urban art but also from pop culture, folk arts, comic graphics, toys and tattoo culture. With his image, he tried to create live worlds that mutate and transform all the time, Retro futuristic images and ambiguous characters. Known as neo-graffiti or post-graffiti.
